Camp Kesem Volunteer
Ensure your college campus is involved with Camp Kesem. If not, you will need to request this before continuing onto the next steps. There is some paperwork which needs to be completed in order to host Camp Kesem through a specific college.
If your campus is already involved, request to be put on an email list. At Southern Utah University, all communication was done via email.
If you are interested, you can sign up for a committee during the school year which helps plan the week long summer camp. Since I was not involved in a committee during my first year, those details will not be included in these instructions. However, getting involved in a committee is a great way to increase your involvement with Camp Kesem.
Attend an informational meeting detailing everything you need to know and do in order to become a camp counselor.
Complete an application.
If offered a position, be sure to accept it and continue following these steps. If not, you can always try again next year or become involved with a similar organization.
Attend training meetings during the school year. There are usually only a few, but they provide essential information about camp so it is crucial that everyone who plans to be a counselor attends these trainings.
Complete online training videos and quizzes over the summer teaching you about rules, regulations, and your responsibilities at camp.
Report to camp.
Have an amazing time and make some unforgettable memories for you and the campers.
Repeat steps 3-10 every year until you graduate. (This step is not required, but after attending Camp Kesem once, it is almost guaranteed to be something you will want to do again.)
